Workshop Descriptions

The projects listed here can be scheduled as a single stand-alone class or as part of a two-day or longer workshop.  Custom classes geared toward your specific needs can also be designed.  Please contact me if you would like more information on scheduling a workshop for your group or organization.

Mixed elements Bracelet

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

Learn various cold and hot skills to create several different elements that can be linked into bracelets, necklaces and earrings.  In class students will make enough links to put together a bracelet. 

Students will learn wire fusing, wire looping, basic wire weaving and simple chain maille.

Introduction to Wire-Weaving

Beginner 2-5 Day Workshop

Can be scheduled to be 2, 3, 4 or 5-days long. Students in this workshop will be introduced to several weaving techniques.  Depending on the length of the workshop students will make three to seven projects.  In the longer, 4 or 5-day classes, students can expect to take their skill level to intermediate level.

Wire-Weaving 2

Intermediate 2-5 Day Workshop

​Can be scheduled to be 2, 3, 4 or 5-days long. Students signing up for this workshop must have at least some wire weaving experience.  Students will continue learning weaving techniques while working on more complex designs.  Depending on the length of the workshop and individual progress students will make one to five projects.  In the longer, 4 or 5-day classes, students can expect to take their skill level to advanced level.

Toggle Clasp

Advanced Beginner 3-4 hour Class

Learn how to make a beautiful, intricately patterned toggle clasp that you can use in your beaded or other designs.  Students will follow step-by-step instructions to create one clasp.  Discussions will include ideas for customizing the size and design to specific needs.

Big Ring

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Turn your wire weaving skills up a notch as you design and create this large, fashionable ring.  Students will make the ring’s band and the seat for the stone based on the construction method introduced in class.  After that each student will work on their own unique design to complete the ring. 

Class focus will be on learning ring construction for a large stone as well as developing individual design.

Twist Bracelet

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

In this class students will work with 3 colors of metal and several wire shapes to create this classic-look twist bracelet.  Student will learn the circular weave and other wire techniques to complete the project.  Techniques learned in this workshop can be used to create bracelets and necklaces of different widths and patterns.

Students will focus on learning the circular weave.  Students will also learn techniques for easy wire coiling and twisting. 

Noveau Scrolls Necklace

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

Merge together two very popular techniques to create this beautiful pendant.  Students will first learn the Color Pencil on Copper technique to create the centerpiece and then frame the piece using easy to master wire skills.

Students in this class will focus on learning skills for applying Prismacolor pencil to a cooper plate and basic to intermediate wire weaving techniques.  Demonstrations will cover copper plate preparation, design, and wire techniques.

Moon Artifact Necklace

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

Explore both traditional weaving and basic metal-smiting skills with this lovely mixed metal piece. Through creating this design, students will learn multiple techniques, including basic soldering and various wire skills that they will take with them onto their next jewelry adventure.

Aphroditi's Heart Pendant

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Learn to merge a variety of jewelry making techniques while crafting this magical pendant.  Students will employ soldering skills to fashion the focal piece for the middle of the pendant, and then use wires to shape, forge and weave a beautiful frame around it.  Students will work with templates to help with symmetry.

Bead Ring

Advanced Beginner 3 - 4 Hour Class

Expand your wire skills as you discover the art of making wire-woven rings. The class will focus on understanding the basic construction and design of a ring including proper sizing. Students will follow precise instructions to complete the ring.

Woven Ribbon Bracelet

Advanced Beginner 6 Hour Class

Use a combination of wire-weaving and other wire techniques to create this fun bracelet that can be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets.  Students will be introduced to the basic weave and its variations. Techniques learned in this class are the basis for creating bracelets of different widths and designs.

Freeform Bead Ring

Intermediate 4 Hour Class

Create this awesome ring using just a few wire wrapping and weaving techniques.  Students will follow precise instructions to complete this ring, but will also be given pointers on how to customize the design to make it their own. The class will focus on improving weaving skills and learning to combine different techniques.

Spiral Ring

Advanced Beginner 3 - 4 Hour Class

Explore various weaving patterns as you work on completing this showy ring.  Students will concentrate on skills needed to create uniform weaves and on learning ways of shaping woven ribbons into bump-free graceful curves and bends.  Students will be given step by step instructions for making the ring, and also ideas for customizing the ring.  

Tumbled Stone Pendant

Beginner 3-4 Hour Class

This class introduces basic wire-wrapping and wire-weaving techniques.  Students will be shown how to construct a wire cage to hold the stone, how to weave and shape the bail and how to use the wire ends to create woven embellishments. Because of the free-form nature of this project students will be able to customize the pendant to create their own unique designs

Netted Stone Pendant

Beginner 3-4 Hour Class

Learn how to encase a stone in a looped wire net while creating this fun pendant.  Students in this class will learn the secrets to making uniform looking and tightly fitting loops that hold the stone securely. 

Basket Full of Gems Pendant

Beginner 3-4 Hour Class

Use simple wire-wrapping and weaving techniques to create this special necklace. Place your small treasures –stones or other small objects – inside the basket of wires to make this a heirloom piece. In this class students will learn simple wire skills and be introduced to basic weaving techniques. The instructor will demonstrate using a butane torch to draw beads on the ends of wires.

Wire Color Pencil Pendant

Beginner 6 Hour Class

Cuff Bracelet

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Take your weaving skills up a notch as you work to create this unique cuff.  Students will learn how to merge different weaving techniques to create exciting new patterns. The class will focus on improving weaving skills and learning more advanced techniques including weaving with beads.

Prong-Set Stone Pendant

Advanced 6-7 hour class

In this workshop students will learn to make a wire woven pronged setting for a flat stone.  Instructions will cover how to determine the best prong position, how to measure wire for the right prong height and working with square wire. Students will also learn a blended weave bail design.

Eye Pendant

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Create this beautiful and unique pendant using several wire-weaving techniques.  Students can work with the eye-shaped bead or choose a simpler oval-shaped bead.  Special attention will be given to improvement of the weaving proficiency, including consistency and flow.

Cabochon Pendant

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Learn several intermediate to advanced weaving techniques as you complete this unique pendant. Students will follow precise instructions to create a woven bezel for the cabochon and the pendant’s bail then use the skills learned in class and their own creativity to finish the pendant in their own unique way. Discussion and demonstrations will include design process, various weaving techniques and several construction methods.

Gypsy Earrings

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

Use several intermediate to advanced wire techniques to create these showy earrings.  With an aid of a template students will learn to bend wire to precisely follow a predetermined shape.  Students will also use wire-weaving, wire-wrapping and  simple forging techniques to complete the earrings

Chandelier Earrings

Intermediate 3-4 Hour Class

​Learn several wire techniques as you create these beautiful earrings.  The class will introduce the basic over-over weave and wire shaping methods.  Students will also learn how to bead the ends of wires with a torch.   Most students will complete at least one earring.

Filigree Ring Short

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

This class teaches solderless filigree wire technique.  The class will focus on three skills important in wire-woven filigree work: basic weaving skills, using template drawings to create precise wire shapes, and drawing beads on the wire-ends using a torch.

Filigree Ring Long

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

Similar to Filigree Ring Short, but with a differnt pattern, this class teaches solderless filigree wire technique.  The class will focus on three skills important in wire-woven filigree work: basic weaving skills, using template drawings to create precise wire shapes, and drawing beads on the wire-ends using a torch.

Woven Bead Dangle Teardrop Earrings

Beginner 3-4 hour class

Students will be introduced to basic over-over weave and frame wire shaping techniques.  The use of butane torch to draw balls at wire-ends will also be covered.

 

Teardrop Pendant

Beginner 3-4 Hour Class

This class introduces over-over weave. Students will be given precise instruction as how to create the pendant from start to finish, but will also be encouraged to customize the finishing touches in order to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

Drop Earrings

Intermediate 6 Hour Class

These earrings capture the magic of freeform wire.   Students will learn the basket weave techniques needed to complete the project, large gauge wire shaping techniques and how to use a torch to draw beads at the ends of wires.

Freeform Lampwork Woven Pendant

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Students in this class will be introduced to both over-under and over-over weave.  Focus will be on the design and placing the bead correctly for proper balance. 

Layered Wire-Woven Pendant

Intermediate/Advanced 6-7 Hour Class

Learn several wire-weaving techniques as you craft this graceful free-form pendant.  Students will work on basic to intermediate weaving skills including over-under and over-over weaves as well as hand and tool wire shaping and manipulation techniques.

Students will learn two main weaves.  Focus will be on controlling wire tension and uniform spacing resulting in even and consistent weaves.

Wire-Wrapped 3-stone Pendant

Advanced 6-7 Hour Class

Expand your wire skills, as you build this beautifully unique pendant.  The class will focus on learning 3 distinctive techniques for setting three differently shaped stones within the wire wrap. Student will use several weaving, wrapping and coiling techniques to frame the stones. 

Tree of Life Pendant

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Explore several traditional wire techniques as you are working on crafting this unique pendant. Students will learn how to fashion a one-of-a-kind tree out of thin silver wires and how to set a stone within its roots.  Then students will make a wire-woven frame to create a shadow-box setting for their beautiful trees. This design includes two different bail designs that students can choose from.

Of -Tree of Life Pendant Window Frame

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Explore several traditional wire techniques as you are working on crafting this unique pendant. Students will learn how to fashion a one-of-a-kind tree out of hair-thin wires and how to set a stone within its roots.  Then students will make a wire-woven frame to create a shadow-box setting for their beautiful trees. 

Wire Weaving Basics

 Beginner 6 hour class

This workshop is a comprehensive introduction to wire-weaving techniques. It will start with overview of essential tools and types of wires used in weaving, followed by demonstrations of several weaving methods such as basket weave and over-over weave and their variations. Students will be given time between demos to practice and should leave the class with a number of weaving samplers.

Beautiful Scrap Wire Chains

 Beginner 3 hour class

Turn your scrap wire into beautiful chains! Learn to make several different wire shapes that can be joined together to create necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Students will use various pliers to turn short pieces of wire into 5-6 different links plus a hook clasp. Simple wire forging will also be introduced. Students will create several links of each shape to learn the techniques so that they can easily finish the chains on their own after class.

Woven with Flair Necklace

Intermediate 6-7 Hour Class

Students in this class will be working with the over-over weave.  The class will focus on improving weaving skills and will introduce frame wire shaping techniques and working with a template.  Demonstrations and discussions will cover customizing the pattern to create other unique designs.
