About The Artist

Kaska Firor, an award winning jewelry artist, has been involved in various arts all her life. In 1988 she graduated from the College of DAAP at the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Interior Design.  Her interests in various other arts and a strong desire to create with her hands led her to pursue other creative avenues as well. She has spent time with clay sculpture, stain glass, creative sawing, and eventually arrived at wire art.

Kaska has been designing and creating wire-crafted jewelry since the summer of 2000, when she took her first instruction in that medium from a Colorado artist.  Since then she has continued to advance her skills in jewelry arts (including wire art, lapidary, silver smiting, Precious Metal Clay, chain-making, glass fusing, and wire weaving) by attending William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Georgia, taking classes provided by local and visiting artists, and through her own experimentation with various tools and materials.

In the past several years Kaska has displayed her work at a number of shows, including such prestigious events as Winterfair, Sugarloaf, Craftfair at Hathaway Brown, Hyde Park Square Art Show, Art by the Falls, By Hand, Berea Craft Fair, Black Swamp Arts Festival, Madison-Chautauqua Arts Festival, and others.

In addition to ten to fifteen shows that Kaska participates in each year, her collections can be viewed at Rivers Edge Gallery at the Greater Cincinnati Airport and AllyBeads Jewelry and Gifts in Milford, Ohio.

Kaska has been teaching wire wrapping, wire weaving and chain making classes out of her studio in Montgomery, Ohio since 2003, and AllyBeads Jewelry and Gifts store in Milford, Ohio since 2007.

Kaska is a member of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, American Craft Council, as well as a juried member of The International Guild of Wire Jewelry Artists.
